LAL RELEASES NEWest SINGLE “A DANGEROUS THING” WITH STUNNING VISUALS by toronto director, MARK VALINO
Toronto, Canada – June 18, 2026 – Canadian legacy duo LAL has released their second single, A Dangerous Thing, from their upcoming LP, A Practice Of Love, set to release in September at the 2026 Venus Festival in Toronto. LAL’s newest offering, A Dangerous Thing, is a contemporary pop song about the raw power of collective listening—when sound, emotion, and presence collide. Breaking from their previous offering Shadows Of Your Dreams, this single offers a release of anger and grief into joy. “Murr” opens the production slowly, layering a reminiscent hip-hop beat with warm vocals by Rosina Kazi and expressive violas by “Folke,” weaving in moments of soft release, inviting you to sink into the tension and let go, one breath at a time.
The music video is the first of a four-part series in collaboration with Mark Valino, a Toronto-based director, videographer, and visual artist known for his evocative, movement-driven cinematography. Valino's work sits at the intersection of contemporary dance, intimate portraiture, and atmospheric storytelling. Valino has built a reputation working with underground and independent artists across Toronto's music, dance, and fashion scenes, often highlighting BIPOC and queer creatives. With A Dangerous Thing, he translates the song's emotional arc, anger and grief folding into joy, into a visceral dance film.
The video uses shadow, slow motion, and tight choreographic framing to capture contemporary dancer Fran Chudnoff in a raw, unflinching performance. This marks the first of Valino's four-part visual series for LAL's upcoming album A Practice Of Love, with each video exploring a different emotional register through movement. Fran Chudnoff also known as Francesca, Franz, Franny (they/them) @franznfriends for bringing this song to life. Franny is a non award winning millennial, with a BFA in performance, and paying rent as a multidisciplinary artist. They are a dance maker, reluctant video artist, photographer, and a true beginner at 3D modelling and digital illustration. Their work is in conversation with post-internet aesthetics, gender deviance, and shaping a “social aura” through aspirational imagery and tampering the mundane. Fran embraces the complexity of millennial tropes by blending sincerity and cringe. For the past few years, Franz has been performing and touring “Make Banana Cry” — co-created by Andrew Tay and Stephen Thompson. MBC has had critically acclaimed performances at Impulstanz (Vienna), Portland Institute of Contemporary Art and Festival TransAmériques (Montreal). Their most urgent project is to share as many meals with their Lola as possible, but you probably know them best from their work on @facerider.
The first single from LAL’s new LP, titled Shadows Of Your Dreams, released in March 2026, shares an emotional and philosophical tone for a body of work forged through personal and collective transformation. This new LP was created in deep collaboration with a chosen family, including multidisciplinary artists, Victor Robert Kee III aka Folke, Ange Loft, musicians V and Ian de Souza, filmmakers Jose Garcia and Jaek Eastcott, and Jaws, whose care and coordination hold the work together. This collaborative process reflects the album’s central insistence that art, like survival, is something we do together. Both singles tease LAL’s upcoming LP, “A Practice Of Love” debuting at the 2026 Venus Festival in Toronto, releasing via LA based GRRRL Music Distribution.
LAL releases this new LP as part of a new chapter with Los Angeles-based distributor GRRRL Music Distribution and Toronto-based publisher Pineapple Express Media Inc.
