In November 2025, Pineapple Express Media touched down in the creative capital of India to facilitate a landmark moment for independent music. We brought together four of Mumbai’s most exciting Hip-Hop voices for a high-energy, two-day songwriting camp designed to build cultural bridges and craft sync-ready music for the global market.
The Session: Two Days at Island City Studios
Hosted at the renowned Island City Studios in Khar West, the camp was an intense burst of creativity. Over two days (November 14–15), the artists moved from concept to recording, laying down tracks that fuse the grit of Mumbai street culture with production aimed at film, television, and digital media.
The lineup featured a who’s who of the city’s underground movement:

These artists were guided remotely by Canadian collaborators via online workshops leading up to the camp, ensuring that the sounds created in Mumbai were primed for North American and European sync pipelines.
The Mission: From Local Streets to International Screens
In Btwn Sets began in 2023 as a collaboration between Pineapple Express Media, Milion Vibes, Side Door Access, and Sirius XM. Originally conceived as a live showcase to shop international talent, the project has evolved into a full-fledged artist development program. The Mumbai Songwriting Camp represents the next evolution: a cultural exchange where the raw energy of Indian Hip-Hop meets the production standards of the international sync world.
Why Mumbai?
Pineapple Express Media’s presence in Mumbai was strategic. As part of the Canadian Delegation at All About Music 2025 (facilitated by the Consulate of Canada), we spent the week forging deep connections with the gatekeepers of Indian entertainment. Meetings with industry leaders—including Gaana, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Believe Music, and JioSaavn—confirmed what we already suspected: the world is ready for the distinct sound of Indian Hip-Hop. However, to travel, the music needs a vehicle. This camp serves as that vehicle, positioning Mumbai’s talent at the intersection of authenticity and international accessibility.
