In 2015, Ashley started a movement on social media with a hashtag; #BadPublicity turning a movement into a thriving business. She began with positive messages and affirmations that grew into a passion of encouraging others to find their own styles and empower their own creativity. What began as something for herself has grown into a cosmetic empire that centres and celebrates femme power.

In 2018 Ashley’s cosmetic line "Bad Publicity" hit the market, launching with and exclusive 25 pairs of false strip eyelashes. Later that year, Ashley showcased her “Bad Publicity” clothing line at a runway fashion show, part of the Viola Desmond Tribute concert at the Halifax Marquee Ballroom now The Derby HFX. BAD PUBLICITY now offers over 30 different products including; clothing, accessories & makeup. Her Scotian potion pallet includes colours labelled as Donair, Waterfront, Africville and Citadel Hill.
Ashley loves to bring her line back to her community and she has been a vendor at the exciting “Take BLK Gottingen Black Vendors Market” where she has enjoyed sharing her work with the community she grew up in. She also joined A.C.C.E in 2020, which stands for Arts, Culture, Community and Economics. ACCE launched Buy Black Halifax, a campaign focusing on supporting local black businesses during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Bad Publicity is one of the artists highlighted in the campaign, that allows local Haligonians to sample products from local black businesses.
Her magnetic personality comes through in her fashion and cosmetic line, with sassy titles and vibrant bold colours. You really get a taste of who Ashley is, and the risks she is NOT afraid to take. even if it gives her “Bad Publicity”, because,

Ashley is creating her own legacy through her brand “Bad Publicity” She sits proudly on her own throne, like the Queen that she is. And through her entrepreneurship she is inspiring so many others to do the same and live out their wildest dreams!
